Happy New Year 2012-God Bless the USA

No this video is not Auld Lange Syne. The year to come deserves more than cliche...in 2012 we are going to decide the direction of our nation. It is perhaps one of the most momentous elections in our nation's history.  We as a people are going to have to chose between freedom and individualism or the control of a nanny-state. In so choosing remember Benjamin Franklin's own words...

"Those who give up some freedoms for the sake of security deserve neither freedom nor security...." and "We have given you a democracy, if you can keep it."



May we as a people remember that we are the shining beacon on the hill that others look to for guidance. American expectationalism is real. But our exceptionalism is not earned without thought for our neighbors. Our exceptionalism lies in the fact that as individualistic as we are, we do care about the world around us and that we hold true to the ideals set out uniquely for all humankind in our Declaration of Independence ...

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.......

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. 

 and our Constitution..

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.



So as you go into the year to come, think about what our forebearers fought for  and make sure that we create a future to be proud of for our children. A future that provides our posterity with the same freedoms we know and love.


 God save our American states.
